    Hi Vanessa

    Hi

How much time on the course is dedicated to learning how to use flash. I have a Canon 5D Mk II with a Canon 580Ex II. I am fairly capable as a DSLR photographer, although the day’s course would fill in some gaps, it is primarily Flash that I want to learn as I have no experience with using Flash at all.

Hope to hear from you soon.

  • Martin Gomez (author) said:

    Hi Bernadette

This course is just about using your camera. Flash and especially TTL flash is a whole different subject.

We do Speedlite flash gun training as one to one tuition. Where we cover using the flash with TTL plus camera compensation, how to use bounce, using the flash manually, flash exposure testing, flash exposure locking and using the flash off camera (wirelessly).

We can normal cover this tuition in half a day.

    Hello Vanessa,

Thank you for your enquiry, we are running a digital SLR course ‘Getting Past Auto’ this covers everything you will need to know to be able to use your new camera in manual mode. This gives you total control and therefore you are able to shoot exactly what style you want. The Nikon D60 is a good starter camera to learn with. The next course date is next Saturday 31st Oct and is a day course for only £150.

    Regards

    Hi,

I am very interested in this course. I am currently looking into getting a digital SLR camera but am interested to learn how to use the manual functions. Do you have any recommendations on a suitable model for a beginner?

When will the next course run?

    Thanks,

    Shona

  • Martin Gomez (author) said:

    Hello Shona,
The ‘Getting past auto’ digital camera course we offer takes you through all you will need to know to use your camera in manual mode.
As for what camera to buy, we use both Canon and Nikon here at the studio and both are good, a site I can recommend is ‘Digital camera review’ it has a very comprehensive buyers guide visit http://www.dpreview.com/learn/?/Guides/dslr_buying_guide_01.htm.
We run the course every Saturday you can book through the website
hope to see you on one of our courses soon.
    Tony

  • Shona said:

Great, thanks Tony. Will look into getting a camera sorted and then will be booking a course in the next few weeks hopefully.

    Thanks,

    Shona

    Hi Martin,

I am a passionate photographer but new to the world of SLR camera’s so the ‘Getting Past Auto’ course seems ideal for me.

Could you please confirm roughly how many people are usually on this course and when the next one will be held?

    Many thanks
    Jon

  • Martin (author) said:

    Hi Jon

There is normally 2-5 on the course, the next one is likely to be this Saturday, although at the moment the snow may mean we have to postpone this course if transport is still a problem.

We do however hold these courses every Saturday.
