Camera Requirements:

You will need an SLR camera to part take in this course, arrangements can be made to hire cameras if you don’t own one, please ask when booking. If you have a Compact, Hybrid or Bridge camera you can still take part in this course, however your camera will not have all the functions available to SLR owners, we guarantee to show how to get fantastic pictures with all types of cameras.

Sony Alpha Users
Please bring along a hot shoe adaptor to connect your cameras to the studio flash sync cable, or bring along a Sony flash gun that has manual control. All other manufactures cameras do not need this.

Lens Choice

You will need a lens that will allow you to crop to head and shoulders, we recommend a lens in the focal length of 70-200mm for this. You will also be capturing half length and full length poses for this you would need a 24-70mm (Full frame) or 18-55mm (APS size) lens.

Additional Equipment

If you have a flash meter, wireless flash triggering system or speed light flash gun please bring these along with you. We can set up your speed light to trigger the studio lights.

    Hi Mohammad

We dont do group workshops on product photography but we do offer private 1-2-1 tuition in this area. When you say small products I guess you are referring to jewellery sized objects?

If you are interested in private tuition we can offer you around a 3-4 hour package that includes all studio set up, lighting, camera and lens set up, focus staking and post production technique.

    Hi

I am interested in a very short course or workshop that can teach product photography, especially small products.

If there is something lined up please let me know.

    Hey Martin,
Thanks a lot for your response… that was exactly what I wanted to know. I look forward to meet you then at the 17th’s Fashion Course as I’m sure it’s the one I will enjoy the most. Thanks.

    Hi Manuel

The portrait workshop is for people who are new to photographic studio equipment, on this workshop we introduce you to the lighting, flash metering and using 1-3 lights to make simple but effective lighting plans for stunning portraits.

The fashion looks at a lot more complex lighting plans with up to 3 lights and use of a lot more lighting modifiers. We expect people to already understand flash metering, exposure and using a flash meter on this day.

    Hello,
I’m interested in the fashion and portrait courses… i want to know when will be the next dates andchoose the most convenient for me. What are the differences apart from the obvious that one is focused in the fashion industry and the other not… but in terms of technical aspects, depth of contents and lighting / editing techniques??

    Thanks

    Hi

We cover basic retouching during this workshop the camera is tethered to the Mac and images are viewed and edited live in Adobe Lightrooms. Here we make changes to exposure, levels, saturation etc. Anything more complex than this would be handle in a dedicated post production workshop.
